ITS Nationals hosted its first annual award ceremony in the Swiss capital Bern this week and ITS Norway‘s CEO and ITS veteran Trond Hovland won the prize “Network Person of the Year”!
The ITS National Awards lifts and celebrates the best within the network, with the intention to get the national ITS organisations to think about what they do really well and actually accomplish, sharing this and the knowledge among each other and across borders.
Trond Hovland, ITS Norway‘s CEO, won the award “Network Person of the Year” in honour of a career advocating technology in the transport and mobility sector. Among the many things he has worked with, he has been CEO for ITS Norway for the last 15 years, where he has had a big impact on raising awareness of ITS and working on seamless transportation service nation wide. Before entering this role he worked for the Norwegian Public Roads Administration for 18 years, where he had several management positions and worked with large project in the road and traffic data sector. Trond Hovland has been a true ITS champion!
“I’m astonished and really, really happy,” said Mr Hovland. “I’ve always been on committees that award to other people – I’m not used to winning them myself. I am retiring from ITS Norway next year so it’s good to have recognition for the years I have put into ITS Norway, ITS Nationals and Nordic+.”
